black pre-med society

WHAT WE DO

We are a collective of Black pre-medical students interested in promoting and sustaining the matriculation of Brown University's Black students into medical school and other institutions of higher learning which support the healthcare sector. We provide students with: professional development, resume building opportunities, academic resources, and practical mentorship.

WHAT

OUR MISSION

We are a revival of a previously existing Black Pre-Med Society created in 1972 to address an obvious need to recruit more African American physicians. We believe it is vital to improve diversity among doctors and health workers in the US. Studies have shown that patients are more likely to follow directions from a doctor if they can identify with them, and doctors are more likely to take their patients seriously when they can identify with them.
