B.U.I.L.T.
WHAT
WHAT WE DO
The purpose of B.U.I.L.T. (Black United states Individuals Living and Thriving) student group is to create a space for students who may not know, identify with, or feel connected to their ancestral roots prior to slavery. The name originates from the understanding that The United States was: Built through the exploitation of Black capital, Built on the backs of Black labor, Built with Black blood, sweat, and tears Built by the descendants of those previously and currently exploited in this country.
WHY
OUR MISSION
Under the “Black” or “African American” classification, various identities exist, including but not limited to: Afro Caribbean and African. On Brown University’s campus, there are spaces that cater to these sub-communities as well as space for all Black identities. Within this space, said students can engage in political, social, and cultural thought, activity, and discussion.
