WHAT WE DO
Oja! (meaning fire in the Ghanaian language, Twi) is a dance family at Brown University that incorporates various traditional and contemporary African styles into our workshops and performances. Our stylistic influences include azonto, gumboot dance, mapouka, Afro-Cuban dance, etighi, galala, kpanlogo, and much more!
We seek to challenge common misconceptions of African dance while sharing our love for music, dance and creativity among Africans and the diaspora.
